About Byte Forge

Everyone's selling AI. No one tells you what it actually costs.

I've been through enough tech cycles to know the difference between a paradigm shift and a press release — and I built Byte Forge on what survived.

The story

From skeptic to practitioner

I watched the last hype cycle from the inside

When blockchain was the next big thing, Jonathan was deep in it — contributing to the NEM protocol, building enterprise track-and-trace systems at a blockchain track-and-trace company, presenting at the Blockchain Investors Summit 2019 to rooms of investors and founders. Some of it transformed industries; a lot didn't. The lesson: evaluate technology by one metric — does it survive contact with real business operations?

Knowing isn't teaching

I didn't just build blockchain systems — I conducted technical workshops on Distributed Ledger Technology and stood in rooms of skeptical engineers. The gap between knowing and teaching is massive; the moment a room shifts from confusion to clarity never comes from the slide with the most buzzwords.

The two filters

When generative AI emerged, the same two filters applied. Practitioner filter: months stress-testing LLMs on real Malaysian SME data, benchmarking open-source models, calculating the true cost of tokens, infrastructure, and maintenance. Trainer filter: what would a business owner in Shah Alam or a CTO in KL actually use on Monday morning?

Why Byte Forge exists

The workshop I wish I'd had — no hype, no vendor decks, no "future of work" fluff. Working prototypes, honest cost models, and a 30-day follow-up channel so your team isn't alone when the real questions start.
